Communicate sales events.

companies use social media tools to advertise sales and interact with their customers. Walmart seems to be trying to improve it's tarnished image by trying to look old-fashioned. As a person who has worked in manufacturing, I'm not fooled. I have heard the stories of how walmart truly gets its low prices direct from supervisors who worked with them. They call up and tell the product manufacturers how much they are going to pay. The manufacturers have to make the product cheaper to make any profit on making the product. This all leads to a cheap product and recalls.

Summery: It's all advertising. All the advertising in the world doesn't change the facts.

  2. Great concise report! You did a really good job with the table and explanations, love the layout. I agree with your take on Walmarts' strategy, I'm sure they walk a fine line when it comes to how they present themselves online. Usually the company image online is inline with their brick and mortar counterparts, this doesn't seem to be the case.

Do you think a company can have one image online while their offline (retail) image is different? Or do you think they both should be the same?

  3. I like the way you picked up on the black & white photos. I believe you are correct. When any company gets bad press or causes it they try things like that to get you to relate with the past to gain trust back even if its only a little. I also liked the way you organized your tables well done.

  4. While reading this blog, I manage to read this text thoroughly and easily. I like how you use a table because it's neat and organized. I was hoping for some statistics in your blog to make it a bit more informative for the readers. But overall, I found it interesting.

  5. Does Walmart or Gamestop delegate social media responsibility out to each of its stores to achieve a great balance of centrally managed customer support and locally relevant content as a strategy or does corporate headquarters shoulder all of the responsibility of company branding? It was a pleasure to read your concise and neat report.
